ULINK's Drive Master® 2003 Designed for New SATA HDD and CD-ROM/CD-RW/DVD Functional Test

ULINK Technology Provides Test Tools that are Compatible with Intel's New 875P Chipset (ICH5)

Cupertino, CA, April 23, 2003—ULINK Technology, an innovative technology and engineering company, announced today that the company's Flagship, the Drive Master® 2003 Software, has undergone its beta release. This software is designed for testing SATA (Serial ATA) HDD, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD drives. It is compatible with industry standard ATA/ATAPI specification 7.0 and optical command set Mt. Fuji Version 5. The beta release is intended to allow Ulink’s customers to evaluate this powerful software tool on their design and in their own QA labs. the software is also compatible with the newly released Intel 875 chipset. This chipset will enable the SATA devices to be used in home or office computers in the following months.

"ULINK is committed to provide the solution for the industrial standard testing tool for the SATA Interface. We see the great value of the SATA products and plan to provide an enabling technology for this emerging market,” said Shawn Chou, Director of Marketing and Sales at Ulink. “Today SATA is providing new and break-through solutions for the personal computer industry. Ulink envisions this technology will be widely accepted by the customers. Ulink is fully committed to establish a standard testing tool, so that the entire industry may benifit from it. The interoperatibility and compatibility can be ensurred by the use of this tool.”

SATA is designed for the storage interface to achive higher performance, better reliability, and simpler connection. With its current 1.0 specification, the SATA is capable of supporting 150 MB/S data rate, that is, 50% faster than most of the existing solutions. The SATA 2.0 will push the speed even faster towards 300 MB/S. With this speed, SATA will provide the performance needed for storage connection for years to come. By building on the existing ATA/ATAPI protocol, the SATA makes the Parallel to Serial transition much easier and less painful.

Because the interface is designed to be fail-proof, SATA provides the reliability normally found in highend Fiber channel and SCSI interfaces. The powerful error detection protocol reduces the infamous ATA data transmission problem.

"An Interactive user interface combined with powerful scripting capability has made the drive master 2003 the best software tool in the market today,” Continued Chou. “The customers can increase their productivity by using this tool,” added Chou. “It enables all magnectic and optical storage devices to be compatible with the newly developed SATA specification. We plan to support SATA II and its future releases when they become available.”

The Drive Master 2003 will be shipped to Ulink’s major customers in the coming weeks. The Beta test will be closely monitored by Ulink and its customers. Upon completion of the beta version, Ulink will release the finished product to the general market.

ULINK’s Drive Master 2003 will be available as soon as the beta test is completed. For more information about the Drive Master 2003 and other Ulink Technology products, please visit Ulink at www.ulinktech.com.
