Ulink Announced its Release of Drive Master® 2004 Supports TCQ Features

The HDD Manufacturers Now Are Able To Test TCQ Feature Set

Cupertino, CA, February 20, 2004—ULINK Technology Inc, an innovative technology and engineering company, announced today that the company's newly release software, Drive Master® 2004, supports Tagged Command Queuing (TCQ) testing. This new version of Drive Master will help manufacturers and IC Chip designers to test the TCQ feature set.

Queued feature allows the host to issue multiple concurrent commands to the same drive. When commands arrive at the drive's buffer, they are tagged with an identifier and then reordered by the drive microprocessor to optimize the distance the drive's read head needs to move laterally along the platter looking for data.

Although this is not the first time TCQ has been implemented in the storage device, the industry still can not find a very suitable and powerful tool to perform queuing test. Ulink’s Drive Master with TCQ support will fill this gap, helping engineers to debug their designs in the early prototype stage.

Drive Master, a powerful script driven test software developed by Ulink Technology, will support SATA 1.0 specification as well as ATA/ATAPI specifications. The program can operate PIO and UDMA transfer modes. It supports all hard drive commands defined in the ATA specification. Drive Master also includes test scripts for hard disk common command access and regression tests. In addition, Drive Master supports performance measurement by displaying the execution time on every command executed.
