ULINK Supports SATA Interoperability Workshop Test at
SATA-IO Plugfest #5
Digital Test Dry Run will cover NCQ, Asynchronous Signal Recovery, Software Setting Preservation, Interface Power Management, etc. on Link Layer and Transport Layer Protocol
Santa Clara, CA, September 12, 2005—ULINK Technology Inc, an innovative technology and engineering company, announced today that it supports the SATA-IO Plugfest Digital work group test activity with its Drive Master 2006 Pro. SATA-IO defined a set of test conditions to evaluate the Link Layer and Transport Layer protocol of the SATA devices. These test conditions are intended for validation of the hardware and software implementations of the SATA devices such as Hard Disk Drives and Optical Disk Drives. ULINK has implemented the entire test conditions defined in the document and validated its test with the SATA-IO Interoperability Workgroup.
ULINK prepared this test in cooperation with the SATA-IO task farce. The test will be used at SATA-IO Plugfest #5 held in Milpitas, California on September 12, 2005. Using Drive Master 2006 Pro, ULINK completed the test suites at Plugfest for SATA-IO Dry Run. With this fully automated, completed, script driven tool, ULINK has created a powerful instrument for SATA-IO Interoperability Workshop pre-stage.
"The SATA-IO Digital test suite is fully programmable and automatic based on Drive Master 2006 Pro. This tool outputs the test summary directly accessible by the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, with the test results such as pass and fail summary listed on the Excel file," said Edwin Kuo, ULINK's Marketing Director. "ULINK has shown the strength in the SATA testing technology in providing the SATA-IO Digital test suite. ULINK also committed to providing the necessary tests for the SATA-IO logo Interoperability Workshop," added by Shawn Chou, ULINK's VP of Product Marketing.
ULINK plans to provide with a complete and automatic test utility so that, the SATA-IO can ensure the consistence and correct interpretation of the SATA specification. As SATA is defined to improve the performance of the storage devices, it also is defined with added complexity. The sophisticated mechanisms such as SATA interface power management and Native Command Queuing (NCQ) requires advanced tools such as Drive Master program to validate the design. ULINK is committed continue to improve its capability to promote the SATA interface compatibility and reliability. ULINK believes the industry will eventually benefit from the SATA-IO test suite.
