ULINK Supports SATA Port Multiplier Compliance Test at #4 SATA-IO Interop Workshop
Santa Clara, CA, November 12, 2007—ULINK Technology Inc., an innovative technology and engineering company, announced today that the company’s new software, Drive Master 2008 Pro SATA, supports the SATA-IO Interop Workshop (IW) Digital and PHY (Physical) workgroup PM (Port Multiplier) Test. SATA-IO (Serial ATA International Organization) defines a set of tests to evaluate host and device Link and Transport Layer protocol. These test suites are intended for validating hardware and software implementations of the SATA interface. ULINK has implemented the test suite required by SATA-IO Interoperability Workgroup (IW) for the PM tests.
The function of PM is to allow a single SATA host port to connect to multiple SATA devices. The implementation of PM allows up to 15 devices to be connected to a host port. As the popularity of the SATA interface increases the number of devices attached to the host is also increasing. PM Middleware adds flexibility to the SATA connection topology with the benefit of the full SATA performance and connectivity.
The PM test will help the SATA-IO move forward to the new host and device connections. ULINK has been working with the SATA-IO core team to define and implement the test for this Interop Workshop in Milpitas, California on November 12, 2007.
Within the Drive Master 2008 Pro SATA software, ULINK created the test suites of SATA-IO logo certification of PM digital test. In addition, the DM 2008 Pro software also provides the BIST (Burn-In-Self-Test) patterns for the PHY layer validation. DM 2008 Pro SATA is a fully automated, script-driven tool for the PM test. With this PM Test ULINK has created a powerful instrument for the PM compliance pre-stage.
"ULINK is committed to support the SATA-IO IL (Integrated List) testing. By working closely with SATA-IO Logo Team, ULINK created the first PM test suite to be used in the IW#4," said Edwin Kuo, ULINK's Marketing Director. “With this software ULINK provides the most complete and comprehensive SATA-IO compliance test suites including: 1. Device Digital Test, 2. Host Digital Test, and 3. Port Multiplier Digital Test. We believe these test suites will benefit the SATA industry by confirming interconnect compatibility and guaranteeing the success of the SATA interface," added by Shawn Chou, ULINK's VP of Product Marketing.
ULINK is committed continue support the test of SATA compatibility and reliability. ULINK believes the industry will benefit from the SATA-IO test methodology.
